“B.” – International Woman of Mystery

    May 13th, 2006 by Spokeswoman

Earlier this week, after our invigorating and thought-provoking meeting with Judy, our EP, we stopped by Dino, in Cleveland Park, for a post-meeting drink.

Feeling celebratory, we treated ourselves to their phenomenal wine selection, as we discussed Judy’s idea of including ourselves as characters in The New Woman. The bartendress at Dino, the beautiful B., kept the wine and olives coming, and learned a bit about Annie’s story.

Originally from Serbia Montenegro, B. left her family and friends to start a new life in DC. B identifies with Annie’s desire to see the world, and offered her services to Spokeswoman Productions. We’ll see what we dig up but, in the meantime, we encourage you to visit her at Dino on Connecticut Ave.

But I digress….so clearly, the idea of the “Gillian and Meghan Show” wasn’t what we had in mind last summer when we set out to produce a historical documentary. However, as we get deeper into Annie’s character and into the definition of the 19th-century “The New Woman,” we can’t help but find some interesting parallels to the new women of the 21st century, (AKA- us and our friends). We approach this new development with a mix of trepidation and excitement because, like Annie, we have no idea where this journey will take us, but we’re just along for the ride. And, pardon the triteness, but our documentary is turning out to be more of a journey, than a destination.
